4 egg yolks
pinch salt
3 tbsp sugar
2 cups light cream, scalded
1 tsp vanilla
1 pint fresh strawberries
3/4 cup current jelly
Beat yolks until thick. Gradually add sugar beating constantly. Slowly pour in cream stirring constantly. Flavor with vanilla and pour into shallow 1 quart pan. Put in a pan of hot water and bake in a 350 oven for one our til firm and knife comes out dry. Cool on a rack and chill completely. Shortly before serving, dip strawberries in jelly that has been melted over hot water. Arrange berries on top of creme, pointed side up.
Jwink3101 note: No bruleeing of sugar? Maybe on top before the strawberries? Otherwise, this more of a strawberry egg custard
